THE FIRST WRITE-UP!

I have been thinking of having a blog for a very long time now…Two years ago:-“Oh..yeah.. I am a PhD student right now, have my hands full…most mornings I spent in the field, I need time to “relax” in the evenings.. Perhaps, I start one when I begin to write my thesis….writing wouldn’t be a problem then…” and Once I started writing my thesis “What the hell.. Writing thesis takes so much of “my” time.. and on the top of that, writing a blog.. gimme a break” Such was my thought process….I was contemplating about this for quite a long time… Most of my friends seem to have got hooked on to writing blogs these days….I too “need” to write now… but humm.. what do I write about?… On ecology? (na! there wont be anything new to say..nor, I write can something which ecology folks don’t know about…for others it might be too boring)… raise a protest over some issue? (well, I see every other blog has some writing of this sort, I don’t wanna be called a copy cat)… display my writing skills using some high-funda words? (As it is…some friends say.. I use flowery, fairy-tale language and few others say I should use some words beyond “very-nice, -good”)…Writing about my crushes? (ha! ha! as if I am some celebrity icon stalked by few journalists to create about some sensational news of posts from this blog!)…phew! I don’t have anything to write about… No wonder I was contemplating all this while…. Finally.. this is the first write-up on my blog “Walk on the rainbow”…

One of my most memorable times of my childhood is when I had seen a Rainbow for the first time in my life…standing in drizzling rain…I was thrilled beyond words…seeing so many colors neatly arranged in an arch…. it was just amazing…. After it disappeared I went back inside and decided that would be my sketch for drawing class! I drew all semi-circles one below the other and started coloring them… at that time…I dint perceive that the spectrum of colors are arranged in a specific manner… I randomly picked the color and painted each arched strip… Well, to my disappointment I dint get any appreciation nor good marks for it… my drawing was “very-simple”… I couldn’t help being intensly disappointed for it at that time…. When I think of it now, if I had got good marks it would have been unfair to other students, who had better sketches…. But, this has remained imprinted in my mind… A mixture of happiness and dashing hopes… Just like how the life is…. :) :(
